I created a room in 3D to start a new Lunation Virtual Space, which holds a lot of potential for creative design projects.

The ability to create 3D environments opens up tons of possibilities. I can virtually experiment in interior design or architecture, or create spaces to render my industrial design projects. It's an important medium to bring to life all the things in my imagination I don't have the capacity to build. Today I'm sharing my first interior under the Lunation banner, and previewing the projects it could lead to.

My First Room

I have some experience working in 3D, but I needed to take on a realistic render of an interior, and see how convincing it would be as a video backdrop. I fired up Blender. If you're unfamiliar, Blender is very capable and open source 3D software.

I settled on a living room set with a very modern Scandinavian look. The furniture was sourced from what I found interesting on the Blender Kit add-on that lets you drop in models and textures. I found some picture frames and added in my own photography. I painted the walls and laid down wood floors.
